About SCRMU

The South Central Railway Mazdoor Union was founded on 2-10-1966, the day a separate zone called the South Central Railway was formed with the Head Quatres at Secunderabad comprising Hubli, Vijayawada from Southern Railway and Sholapur from Central Railway.  In 1977, Guntakal Division from Souther Railway was included in the S.C. Railway and Sholapur Division went to Central Railway.  Com. S.B. Giri and Com. A.V.K. Chaitanya were the President and General Secretary respectively for the newly founded SCRMU.  In 1986, Com. N.Sundaresan has taken over the reins of SCRMU defeating the then General Secretary with a thumping majority in the democratically conducted election to safeguard the interest of the organisation and to nullify the influence of the political parties on the organisation.  From then onwards the growth of SCRMU is in leaps and bounds.  With scientifically and meticulous way of thinking and unlimited capacility and experience in negotiations, he brought laurels to the organisation in all spheres.

It got a membership of 87,530.  The membership fee is Rs. 50 per annum, Admission fee of Rs. 1/- will be collected at the time of admission from every member.

Eligibility of membership :

Any person aged more than 18 years and employed on the South Central Railway either directly or through Railway Contractors or in the auxiliary services of the South Central Railway shall be eligible to become an ordinary Member of the Union provided he agrees to abide by the Constitution of the Union and the Rules and Bye Laws framed there under from time to time.

Its 132 branches are grouped into 6 Divisions Viz,Secunderabad  Division,Hyderabad Division, Vijayawada Division,Guntakal
Division,Hubli Division,Workshops Division.
